Biography

H. Lloyd Weston, Jamaican-born contemporary expressionist artist, has been gaining steady recognition in the international art world. Weston graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B. A. degree, 1974. Independent art studies followed in London and Paris. He enrolled at the Art Student's League New York 1979, under the tutelage of abstract expressionist instructor, Joseph Stapleton, who recognized his talent and became his mentor.

In October 1981, Weston had his premiere exhibition at the prestigious Americas Society, Park Avenue, New York. 1982 Weston had a one-man exhibition at the Ta'Nasia Gallery, Madison Avenue, New York, which brought him a positive review from renowned art critic Renè Philips. Later in 1982, Weston exhibited at the Pineapple Room, Round Hill Resort, Jamaica, under the patronage of New York socialite, Audrey Del Rosario.

In 1984 Weston was chosen by the Museum of Modern Art of Latin America, Washington, D.C., for a one-man exhibition under the auspices of the O.A.S. Other showings followed, including the Kane-Mason Galleries, N.Y. 1985; the Winston Churchill Memorial Museum and Library, Fulton, Mo. 1986; the Museum of Art, Witchita, Kansas, 1986 and the Mutual Life Gallery, Kingston, Jamaica, 1987.

In 1989 Weston presented a commissioned painting to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, in a ceremony at Grosvenor House, London, followed by an exhibition at the Roy Miles Gallery, Mayfair, London. Other exhibitions include the Renoir Galleries, Maástricht, Holland, 1990; Gallerie Steigenberger, Berlin, Germany, 1993 Gallerie Die Treppe, Stuttgart, Germany, 1994; Galleria Ca'd'Oro, Rome, Italy,1996; The National Arts Club, New York City, 1998; the Bungei Shunju Gallery, Tokyo, 2000; and the United Nations World Headquarters, New York City, 2003, in celebration of the U.N.'s International Year of Cultural Heritage. More recently, Weston's works were featured in a major retrospective at his alma mater, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, New Jersey, October, 2006.
